Sweden Social Web Camp, the recap!

Erik&Karin

This past weekend a group of more then 400 social media enthusiasts meet up on Tjärö located just of the coast of Blekinge, Sweden to discuss everything from WordPress to how you can use social media as weapon against wrong doing in the world. I attended, I learned, I talked, I socialized and I enjoyed. I will definitely be going back for more next year.

SSWC has been discussed all over the social media sphere and the press could clearly not resist the temptation. The event was featured on tv4, written about in “most” newspapers and as expected the participants went into overdrive to tell everyone not there about everything that happened. To find most of the articles, take a look at Videren’s blogpost.

The TV representation was part on-site-production (great stuff) by JournalistLisah and part panel discussion with SSWC participants Karin Adelsköld and Joakim Jardenberg. One thing that I think stood out is the angel of the panel discussion. It tended towards politics and their use of social media instead of the camp. Sad, truly sad! However, Joakim saved the day and released a directors cut, an extended edition featuring non of the original content but instead himself pulling a drive-by SSWC complementary.

To really top things off, Mattias Boström, an editor with Piratförlaget, pulled of the ultimate feat by gathering over 180 articles from the participants before the event and turned them into a book. The book was sold at the event but do no fear, print-on-demand is here. I left my footprint in the book by adding a view on generations, in families, in social media and in the backbone of the Internet.

A small abstract from the book and  my contribution.

The conclusion? Mark all of august next year in red so that you wont miss SSWC2011 and then go order 15 copies of the book so that you can have one where ever you go. If your on a tight budget, dont dispair, a PDF and ePUB version is available.

Special thanks for making my weekend great goes out to Erik Arnberg from Binero (Hey! I didn’t get any coffee!), Karin Adelsköld (yes, you like Andriod, I know),  Francesco Cetraro (Dublin next, yes?) from .mobi, Tomas Wennström for the ideaKristin Heinonen for the best allsång ever and my employer for sponsoring the event and letting me go.

LG

Time for some R&R!

Posted: June 24th, 2010 | Author: LGForsberg | Filed under: SliceOfLife, Work | Comments Off

After a buzzy spring touring the world as a part of my new adventure its finally time for some R&R. For those of you who know me, you know what that means. Yeap! Im going to the greek isles again.

Just as last year we are starting from Pireus, going to Naxos for a few days and after that no one knows what happens. There have been some discussions about Ios for some mixed relaxation and partying but we wont be sure until we get there.

To recap the last few weeks I have spent a good deal of time in Stockholm, which is beautiful this time of year. I managed to sneak into WPBar to present myself to a few of the guys and girls that will be joining up for Swedish Social Media Camp in August.

The last week has been all about ICANN. This time its in Brussels and I must say that it has been a good week. We managed to get a lot of good meetings done and I finally finished the last things needed before I can sneak of to Greece.

Regards,

LG

In business for real

It has been one crazy month since I joined up with .Nu Domain as their Director of Marketing. I have had the pleasure meeting up with quite a number of our registrars and I have started to get the social media machine going.

During all of this I have gotten to know a bunch of new people, which is a bonus to the job that I don’t take lightly! I have had the time to release a few press messages, meet up with potential partners and plan the first few months of marketing activities.

All in all its been a really good month. The latest news is that one of our Swedish registrars, Binero, took some time to really get to know me. It ended up in an interview posted at their blog today!

NU-domänens nya ansikte och ambitioner: Marknadschefen LG Forsberg i första intervjun

Have fun reading, and dont forget to check .NU out at Twitter, Facebook and myNewsdesk!

New year, Fresh start!

So, we have a new year! This do happen once in while or so but this time it means more then usual. 2009 was a good year with lots of cool projects and quite a few big happenings for me. However, I think that 2010 will be ever more spectacular.

M O R E T O C O M E

Yesterday evening was spent with friends eating a nice dinner, playing some social games and talking about the year that had past. At the strike of twelve the usual pyromaniacs of the group (yes, Im guilty) went out to spend a few minutes burning half a pay check of fireworks into the sky while the rest enjoyed a sparkling wine.

These traditions seems to never change and I have thought about how important they really are. Last year I spent christmas on a sunny island and to be honest it was not the same when I think back. Not bad in any way but it felt like I had missed something. I will most likely travel during christmas on more occasions then one in the future but I think that I need to keep at least one year in between, at home, with the family just to keep the spirit intact.

Happy New Year!

LG

Update.. or not!

As usual when my blog goes quiet its not because I don’t have anything to write about, It’s because I have to much to write about.

The weeks since Internetdagarna and my last post has been packed with things to do and there is still more coming. It is a wonderful time for change and I intend to make as much out of it as possible.

At least as soon as I get rid of the last remnants of my flue. It knocked me out for the better part of a week and Im still not fully back into shape. You know, when a man catches a cold…

To mention one, really great, thing that actually did not relate to me as much as to my lovely girlfriend, she has finally completed her Ph.d and now demands to be called Doctor. It has some nice appliances don’t you think?

It all begins with 22810!
